Startup Editor
The Startup Editor shows the programs that run automatically when Windows starts. Many of them are useful, but some are leftovers from old installs that slow down your boot time.
What it does
- Open Startup Editor from the menu.
- The list shows every startup program on your system.
- Use the checkboxes to enable or disable items — unchecked items will not run at the next startup.
- Use Remove to permanently delete a selected item from the startup list.
Advanced Editor
The Advanced Editor button opens the Windows System Configuration utility (msconfig), which gives advanced control over startup and boot settings.
Only use the Advanced Editor if you know what you are doing — it controls system services and boot options that Windows needs.
Safety
Start simple: disable items instead of removing them. If Windows works fine after a restart, you can remove the disabled item later.
Be careful with items you do not recognize. Security software, drivers, and system tools often start at boot on purpose. When in doubt, leave an item enabled.
