What it does not touch

WinSysClean never deletes files that are currently in use. If a program is running and using a temp file, that file is left alone. It also skips CD-ROM and network shortcuts, so removable drives are never affected.

  1. Weekly: temp folder, invalid shortcuts, Recycle Bin.
  2. Monthly: history lists, log files, memory dumps, icon caches.

Hotfix Uninstall Files and Empty the Recycle Bin are the two switches to think about most:

  • Removing hotfix uninstallers means updates can no longer be uninstalled.
  • Emptying the Recycle Bin is permanent and cannot be undone.

Restoring defaults

The Default Settings menu command returns every switch here to its factory default. Use it if you changed many switches and want a known-safe starting point again.
