Registry Repair Options

The Registry Repair Options page repairs the Windows registry. Over time the registry accumulates entries pointing to programs that no longer exist. These entries slow Windows down and can cause errors. Each switch finds and removes a specific kind of invalid entry.

How it works

WinSysClean reads each registry entry, checks whether the file or folder it points to still exists, and removes the entry if the target is missing. Entries pointing to network drives, CD/DVD drives, or removable media are always skipped — WinSysClean does not assume those are broken just because the media is not inserted right now.

The Windows Run History entry is the one that behaves differently: it is removed immediately, but Windows rebuilds the visible list until the next restart. A restart is required for the change to show.

Safety

The registry is a critical part of Windows. WinSysClean only removes entries whose target files are verified missing — it never guesses. Even so, always create a registry backup and a restore point before running a registry repair.

Registry repairs are most valuable after uninstalling software, when leftover entries are plentiful. A monthly repair keeps the registry tidy.

Set Default / Safe Settings

Like the other cleaning pages, Default Settings restores the safe factory choices. All registry repair switches default to On because each one only removes entries with confirmed-missing targets.
